The Sacred Circle is the indigenous practice of “sitting in council”, in order to determine and/or create a shared purpose and intention for any group of like-minded people. A Sacred Circle can be convened for the collective sharing of prayers for healing, for resolution of conflicts and finding common ground, or to express gratitude for blessings (—a vital part of any healing process.) Working with the ancient tool of the “Talking Stick”, people are taught to focus on a shared intention, to listen without judgment, to communicate their truths without interruption, and to arrive at a collective and unified consensus.
The ability of prayer and the energy that it sends through the etheric realm is very powerful. People often discount their personal abilities to send “assistance” to others who may be experiencing illness, distressful situations and events, or who may be in need of a boost of good will for something needed. Norman Vincent Peale wrote an entire book, “The Power of Positive Thinking” many years ago, that asserted “Faith in Action” as a way for us all to connect with Divine Energy, to help us in all our life’s circumstances.
A Sacred Circle is formed when a group of like-minded people gather in order to form a circle around a person who is in need of group prayer assistance. You may have a relative or friend who is in need of a “healing”. Forming a physical circle around this person, and each in turn say a prayer of intention for healing is a very effective way of aligning and generating energy to help lift that person up, to allow for the healing energies to form.
A Sacred Circle may also be formed to help people solve conflicts, find solutions to difficult situations or decisions, or simply to provide support. The Circle is an ancient human construct which facilitates mutual respect, the art of listening and focusing attention. To sit “in Council” is one of the oldest forms of community healing in the world.
Through use of the ancient tool of the “Talking Stick”, people learn to listen, to express thoughts in the safety of being heard, and learn the ability to stay silent while the holder of the stick releases their burdens.
